Emily joined The Vale after graduating from Nottingham University in 2019. Originally from Essex, she developed a keen interest in becoming a farm vet whilst working as a relief milker at her local dairy. Emily is currently undertaking a Certificate in Sheep Production and has particularly interests in preventative medicine and data analysis.

Hugh Townsend founder of Townsend Chartered Surveyors in 1992 for nearly 40 years has been trading off farm intangible assets and in 1992 was the founder of now the UK’s leading regulated brokerage house selling Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland BPS entitlements, Environmental Credits – Woodland, Peat & Soil Carbon, BNG, Nutrient Neutrality together with Water Abstraction Licences. Townsend Chartered Surveyors are traditional land agents selling and managing land & projects throughout the UK and are also involved in the commercial and residential sectors.
Before joining FWAG SW in 2014, Sabine was working on her PhD thesis at North Wyke, Rothamsted Research, monitoring the effects of different pasture management practices on soil nutrients and water quality.

Proactive Help for New Entrants to Farming
Jo is the Business Development Manager for the national farming charity Addington Fund. The charity was formed in 2001 and has continually evolved to meet the needs of the farming community ever since. This summer Addington launched their New Entrant Scheme and Jo will talk about how, through this unique scheme, they hope to provide proactive support and encouragement to people aged 18 to 40 who are either looking to enter farming, or who have been doing so for up to two years. The charity aims to help new entrants make the best possible start to their farming career or venture.
